FAA GLOBE established 1995

2010 marks the 15th anniversary of Federal Aviation Administration Gay Lesbian Or Bisexual Employees (FAA GLOBE) as being officially recognized by the FAA as an employee association.  Our goals are to bring about a workplace that is free of prejudice and discrimination based on sexual orientation through education and awareness of issues affecting gay men, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) employees.  We began as a chapter of Department of Transportation GLOBE in 1994 and then matured into our current association.

Our advocates have brought about many changes at the FAA:

•Together we changed FAA policies to insure a discrimination free work environment and have gained access to the EEO complaint systems in order to seek redress.

  1.     We successfully petitioned the FAA to extend to HIV positive air traffic controllers and other safety related personnel “special consideration medical clearance” that already existed for pilots with HIV.

  2.    Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered (GLBT) employee’s issues are heard and acted upon by FAA management, we are welcomed at the highest level in the FAA when we meet with the FAA Administrator on a quarterly basis.

  3.    We continue to host awareness programs at FAA facilities and host meet and greet to encourage membership and participation.

  4.     Annually we provide training for our officers and members to enhance their skills to help foster an inclusive work environment.

  5.     We have raised awareness of GLBT employee’s issues with FAA employee associations and labor unions.

The work culture continues to become more inclusive of GLBT, resulting in our newest generation of FAA employees being more visible.
